Written Projects

Cicero Independiente Story:

For this story, I conducted over twenty interviews to provide a comprehensive and informative review of each store featured. I gathered insights from store owners, employees, and customers to capture a detailed perspective.

NEIU Independent Stories

This story was particularly relevant to the NEIU community, as it has a significant population of undocumented students. Through numerous interviews, I aimed to raise awareness and provide valuable information to the undocumented community on campus, addressing their unique challenges and highlighting available resources.

The second story stemmed from my role as a DJ and host at WZRD. I am passionate about discovering and sharing new music projects, especially from local bands. My goal is to introduce my audience to artists I admire, fostering a greater appreciation for local talent and enriching the campus music scene.

Video Project s

Short Film Project:

For this short film, I managed every aspect of the production process. During pre-production, I coordinated all necessary arrangements, including sourcing props, securing locations and scheduling filming dates before the beginning of filming. On set, I guided all performers in front of the camera, ensuring they stayed on topic despite the need for improvisation, as none of us were professional actors. Additionally, I handled all post-production tasks, from editing the footage and adding music, creating foley sounds and mastering the dialogue.

Live On Tape:

This assignment was given to our class by news anchor and reporter Jorge de Santiago. I contacted a representative from Columbia Votes, a nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping Columbia College students register to vote and encouraging voter participation. The live-on-tape segment consists of a concise interview with minimal edits, focusing directly on the key points to effectively convey the message.

Foley

For this project, I used Adobe Audition to create and synchronize all audio elements for a given video. This involved generating all sounds, from ambient background noise to intricate details like the rustling of clothes, cables dropping, water heating, and phone typing. My work on this video demonstrates my attention to detail and creativity in overcoming challenges, as I modified many of the recorded sounds with audio effects to accurately match the devices and activities depicted in the video.

Editing project

This project involved editing 30 minutes of raw footage down to a coherent story of no more than 2 minutes and 30 seconds. My editing skills are demonstrated through the effective use of techniques such as L-cuts, dissolves, and various effects. By carefully selecting and arranging the footage, I was able to meet the assignment's requirements and create a concise, engaging narrative.
